Sara Hildén Art Museum
Enlivening the spirit of the place and its genius loci, as well as pursuing an open dialogue into the future, Sara Hildén’s Art New Museum whispers in conversation with its surroundings. It dialogues with the history of the place to derive its own iconic and distinctive architectural identity. The project offers to Sara Hildén Foundation both a functionally flexible tool for the collection as well as a symbol of an environmentally just and frugal architecture. This House of Arts is conceived as a “knitting platform”. While its patterned deep red brick façade sparkle in glaze, literally drawing on the textile patterns formerly produced by the many women working in Finlayson, the building itself represents a public platform able to “knit” in prose its site.
