Johnny Farah Shop
Built in 2007, this project was a private commission for the leather goods designer Johnny Farah. Located in the heart of the Marais district of Paris, the boutique will be the fourth addition to the brand’s New York, Dubai and Beirut portfolio. Johnny Farah is a meticulous artisan who builds on the subtle Danish design tradition. His pieces - handbags, shoes, belts and jewellery - celebrate the natural beauty of his material, highlighting its natural grain and inconsistencies. He pays close attention to detail, using precise tools to enhance the simplicity of his designs and the intricacies of the craft.
The space of the showroom was designed to complement the qualities of the items on display. The materials chosen were re pure and raw: the design is anchored around a seven metre long metal table, standing gracefully on a dark gray concrete floor. Positioned opposite a hardwood cabinet, the table stands before a red wall which was put together using wooden panels from the damaged scaffolding of Parisian buildings. The space highlights the natural products, and contributes to their earthy character, which recalls the emotive colors and textures of Francis Bacon’s work.
